Rotary Rib ‘n’ Roll 2019

Get ready for the 16th annual Rotary Rib ‘n’ Roll, Brampton’s popular ribfest and first major event of the summer.

It runs May 24, 25, 26 at Gage Park -Friday evening 5 to 11 pm; Saturday from 12 noon to 11 pm and Sunday Noon until 7 pm.

“Rotary has great support from our community, sponsors and our volunteers for this event and we look forward to a rock and rib extravaganza again this year,” says John Sanderson, co-chair of the event for the Rotary Club of Brampton

Money raised supports four worthy causes in Brampton –Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness, Tour for Kids, ErinoakKids and Rotary Youth projects.

WARD FUNERAL HOMES is a major sponsor and their involvement allows for dayo n Sunday for families.  Ward Family Day has become a staple of the festival.

“We have different crowds throughout the weekend and we wanted to ensure that families with children are part of the event. We wanted to create an interactive environment that’s fun for everyone and with the Ward commitment to family, it was a perfect partnership,” co-chair Wendell Brown said.

WARD FAMILY DAY on Sunday includes entertainment for families with kids on separate stages, with buskers, bouncy castles and face painters, balloon tiers, clowns, an animal and reptile show and even Zumba. At 3pm there is a live show that will be announced soon.

The music is non- stop Friday through Saturday. The Carpet Frogs are back as the Saturday night headliner.  We have some new additions this year with an Abba tribute band – Abba Revisited as our Friday night headliner and our “Special guest” on Saturday night – Elton John tribute Elton Rohn.  Freedom Train, the Dave Murphy Band and the Marc Joseph Band are also returning.  Check www.ribnroll.com for details and times.

“Admission is by voluntary contribution at the gate. Even a toonie would be great because it all goes to support Rotary work in our community.”

“Rotary believes in supporting local business, and we get terrific support from local business as well. The City of Brampton has been our key funder from the beginning – with support from their Community Grant Program. Key sponsors include, Ward Funeral Homes, RBC Royal Bank, RBC Dominion Securities,   MO Freightworks, Investors Group, The Marketing PAD, The Brampton Guardian, The Rose Theatre, MSC Productions, Toronto Pearson Airport, Carl’s Catering, Lawrences, Miller Waste and GMF Transport Ltd.,” says Sanderson

This is the 16th year for Rib ‘n’ Roll, an event that started as Blade-a-thon 18 years ago by founder Rob van Kessel.  Ribs were added in 2003.  Attendance last year at the event was more than 20,000 over three days.
